The Sri Lanka Trekking Week is an adventure filled experience packed with breathtaking hikes and a number of other exciting activities.
During the experience you will follow a seasoned guide who can introduce you to the route and landscape in a unique way that few others could replicate.
Your journey will take you through the Hill Country that is central to Sri Lanka; the area is renowned for its flora and fauna, and travellers will surely be amazed by the diversity and beauty that they see along the way.
The week includes treks to the Rose Stone Garden, Ambuluwawa Hills and Bible Rock, as well as a visit to Sigriya Rock and a local spice plantation.
Alongside all of these incredible sights and experiences, you will spend time taking in village culture and the country’s religion and traditions during visits to the 3 Loop Temples. You will even get the chance to ride an elephant.
Given the dynamic and diverse nature of this program, it can sometimes be subject to change depending on the time of year, weather, holidays and festivals or events. In the event of change, you will get the chance to try other more appropriate activities.
Adjustments can sometimes also be made to improve and enhance the program, as well as to improve the activities you take part in.
Monday: Monday starts with a short introduction to the week and to the activities you’ll take part in. This is followed by a trek to Sigiriya Rock where you will have the opportunity to try an amazing elephant ride. On the way to the Rock you will visit a local spice plantation and on the way back you will stop at the Rose Stone Garden.
Tuesday: Tuesday will be made up of a a beautiful walk through local villages to visit 3 Loop Temples in Kandy.
Wednesday: On Wednesday you will trek to Bible Rock and spend the day there, before returning to Kandy in the evening.
Thursday: On Thursday you will travel to the Ambuluwawa Hills for a trek, and then return to the volunteer house in the evening
Friday: On Friday you will visit the famous Royal Botanical Gardens.
Weekends: Evaluation and some group discussions. The rest of the weekend will be free for you to visit or re-visit local landmarks.
