Are you looking for an incredible opportunity to gain experience of teaching while visiting a beautiful country? Located in Northern Peru, this project aims to have a positive impact on the futures of the children by developing their knowledge of English. As a participant, you will be facilitating exciting, fun and memorable English lessons at local primary and secondary schools. With the rise of tourism in Peru, having a level of fluency in English is becoming an essential skill for future success, whether the children’s future careers lie in tourism, business or other industries. Your input with the children will be invaluable and greatly appreciated by the Peruvian children. While working at the project you will be based at an accommodation centre which is within a 30-minute drive from each place of work at the nearby villages. Each day a minibus will take you to the project site. Teaching for 3-4 hours each day, you’ll spend the rest of the working day preparing for lessons in conjunction with others. How you deliver your English lessons is entirely your choice, but the more varied and dynamic your approach, the better the children will learn, and the more fun you will have! At the moment, the level of English in the area is very low so you have the chance to make a big difference! Inspiring and encouraging the children to grow as individuals and venture into careers which they otherwise would not be able to consider, the experience will be highly rewarding for them and for you.
Monday to Friday
Each day will be varied as you will be working with a range of students carrying out the activities that you plan and prepare. Half of each working day will be spent teaching for approximately 3-4 hours, while the other half will be spent preparing teaching material and planning classes. It is important to be reflective in your practice and consider what does or doesn’t work effectively for each group of children.
