An incredible opportunity to gain medical experience as a volunteer at the Teaching Hospital in Kandy! Medical students are invited to apply for a placement here to learn from the highly trained and experienced doctors and nurses. One of the oldest and largest hospitals in Kandy, it has strong connections with the University of Peradeniya. As a result, it runs several undergraduate study programs at the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, part of the University of Columbo. Registrars, Senior Registrars and post-graduate trainees are regularly posted at the hospital because of its vast range of medical and surgical specialties. In addition to other training taking place at the hospital, it also provides teaching facilities for foreign students to extend their knowledge and understanding of tropical diseases. During your time on the program, you will experience a wide variety of ailments and methods of treating them which will benefit your studies immensely.

Monday to Friday

The normal working hours for each day are usually from 8:00 am until 1:30 pm although these could change if it is deemed necessary by the hospital routines. Your working schedule will be arranged by the hospital staff when you arrive to ensure that you gain the best possible experiences during your stay.
