Do you enjoy getting your hands dirty to help others? Spend time during your gap year volunteering to help improve the living conditions in a fishing village in La Gi. As many of the villagers are affected by poverty, the little they earn is spent on the cost of day-to-day living leaving little or no funds to maintain or repair their housing. Similarly, the budgets to maintain communal buildings such as temples and schools is very low. Aiming to raise the standards of living for these people, the project organises light construction and renovation work where it is most needed. Tasks you’ll be carrying out could include painting, repairing furniture, building walls or helping to install sanitation facilities. Every task you are assigned will be responsive to the needs of the local community so cannot be predicted before hand, however you can expect to be working between 4 and 5 hours each day. Whilst working at the project, you will benefit from the opportunities for intercultural exchanges as well as the new skills you will develop.
Please Note: Projects start on a Monday, however you should arrive over the weekend on either Saturday or Sunday.
