Do you have a passion for enriching the lives of children? Spend time during your gap year volunteering on a project based in an orphanage at La Gi. Ranging from newborn to 18 years of age, some of the 20 children at the orphanage, are genuine orphans while others are from underprivileged backgrounds where their parents cannot afford to look after them. Primarily, the project focuses on building the children’s confidence and self esteem. As a participant, you will contribute to this by caring for them and educating them in English and life skills. For the older children, you will also be expected to help them with their homework. English is regarded to be an essential skill for good employment opportunities, so the input you give in this area will contribute to their future success. In addition to academic studies, the children are also encouraged to develop artistic and musical skills, taking part in piano lessons and creating embroidered artworks which are sold at fund raising activities for the orphanage. While your work at the orphanage will impact greatly on the lives of the children, you will also be gaining skills and experiences in working with, and teaching, children which will be highly beneficial to you.
Please Note: Projects start on a Monday, however you should arrive over the weekend on either Saturday or Sunday.
