On this gap volunteer programme in India you will work as an assistant teacher at one of our many local kindergarten schools.
This programme helps children in the villages improve their English language. You will mainly teach children English and teach at the same time. This could involve lessons in drama, music and foreign languages.
You’ll also help other teachers and staff and may have to create teaching plans. All the schools involved in this programme are more than five years old. They all share a common aim of attempting to help create a better future for the pupils who go there. S All schools are well-managed and supervised by officers from government and private organizations.
The days follow a similar pattern. For instance, the morning sessions are from 9:30am to 12 noon. Lunch is followed by time at the kindergarten until 3.30pm. Teaching is mainly done in the classrooms but you could be assisting other teachers or creating your own lesson plans for your next session.
December, January and February are winter vacations in Sikkim, so this project won’t be functioning during these months.
