By joining the gap year volunteer in Oceania Healthcare Project, you will be able to contribute to the society in two major ways – improving health education among children in schools and improving health education in villages.
At schools, you will be working with children by teaching about good health practices, maintenance of daily hygiene and cleanliness. You will also engage with the local community by teaching them the same information.
In Samoa, the main health target group is women since they play important social roles in village communities.
Once you join the project, throughout the weekdays, you will be engaged in providing health education both in schools and villages. This will take place after breakfast. LUnch will be served around noon and dinner in the late afternoon. The rest of the time will be your own for socialising and exploring your surroundings.
