Experience Nepal in four weeks with the Nepalese culture, people and adventure!

During the four-week program, you will get to experience Kathmandu, Pokhara, Annapurna and Chitwan districts through varied and action-packed activities. Scheduled for the month are days of sightseeing, cultural and language lessons, five days of hard trekking, white-water rafting, five days of community work in one of our projects and much, much more!

What is included in the program

A few things to consider when you are with us!

  • Returning to the accommodation after your personal trips before 22.00 everyday
  • You will not be allowed to hire any vehicle on your own
  • Consumption of alcohol inside the accommodation is strictly prohibited

The aim of this program is to bring you closer to authentic Nepal. Through different projects and activities, you will get to truly immerse yourself in the culture, customs and lifestyle.

Trip Itinerary

Week 1
Monday to Friday
Arrive in Kathmandu and relax at our centre. During this week, you will learn about Nepalese culture through a series of introductory culture classes which are designed to help you develop your Nepalese language skills and deepen your understanding of the Nepalese way of life, complete with details on rituals and customs. You will learn about Nepal’s history and the religious influences which have shaped it. Moreover, we will pay a visit the local shops and markets that will get you learning as you go with the local culture and how to become a part of it. As part of your city tour and orientation, you will also visit some amazing sites such as the temple of Boudhanath: one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in Kathmandu whose ancient spherical stupa dominates the skyline and is one of the largest in the world. You will also be introduced to yoga and meditation during this week.

Week 2
Monday to Friday
Royal Chitwan National Park and Pokhara: Take part in an exhilarating village hike where you can see rural day to day life, at its own relaxed pace and the many rice paddy fields and mountains. Then, enjoy some adventurous whitewater rafting on the scenic Trisuli River, a place where you will spend one night and two invigorating days.

Then to the Royal Chitwan National Park which covers an impressive 360 square miles of land and is home to Bengal tigers and around 543 species of birds. Experience the exotic wildlife of Nepal for two nights and three days. Spend some time sightseeing in the charming town of Pokhara, the second largest city in Nepal, which is home to three of the largest mountains in the world. There is a stunning view of the Himalayas from the northern skyline here.

Week 3
Monday to Friday
Annapurna Trek: Begin your adventure trek up the Poon Hill (3,190m, 10,465 ft.), which is the viewpoint for two of the largest mountains in the world: Annapurna (8,091m, 26,545 ft.) and Dhaulagiri (8,167m, 26,794 ft.).

This fulfilling quest will take five days and reward you with views of priceless beauty. You will receive a relaxing massage on the way back to soothe those tired muscles with ample time set aside especially for some moments of profound quietness which will enable you to reflect upon the vast and beautiful sights you have encountered and those that are yet to come.

Week 4
Monday to Friday
Community Work in Kathmandu: You will get the chance to give back to Nepal by helping out in some of our projects. Your options to choose from:

Teaching in Local Schools

Teach at small local village schools and foster good relationships with the children as you assist with extracurricular activities and inspire them to achieve their full potential and broaden their perspectives through creatively structured lessons.

Renovation projects

Help local communities by building infrastructure alongside local people and other participants.

Organic Farm/Community Development

Work alongside local people on an Organic Farm as part of this authentic experience during which you will stay with a local family.

We prefer it if, once your placement on one of these projects has been confirmed, that you commit to it but we may be flexible in accommodating your changing desires dependent on circumstances and availability. We will try to accommodate you as best as we can but nothing is guaranteed as availability and circumstances may affect the options open to us at any given time. Usually, your first choice of social work option on your application form is guaranteed. For medical options, relevant qualifications will be required .

This schedule can be changed and/or amended depending on weather conditions, local conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

Trip Accommodation

A route that takes you from Kathmandu to Chitwan and then into beautiful Pokhara and then further to Poon Hill and back to Kathmandu.

Kathmandu Accommodation 

There is a mini library where you can read, a beautiful garden to relax in and dining and lounge areas where you can hang out with fellow participants. Rooms are shared on a single gender basis 4-6 people a room, there are also private rooms available, this is subject to availability. There is a curfew of 22.30 at the house,to ensure the safety of yourself and others.No alcohol can be brought into the houses.

Food Arrangements
You will be provided with three meals a day on weekdays and two meals per day on weekends. The meals are a mix of Western and Nepalese food, consisting mainly of vegetarian dishes including rice and vegetables. You can expect to have a chicken dish about once a week. You can also choose to eat out at any of the local restaurants.There is a refrigerator which you are welcome to use to store food and beverages.

Facilities
Our house is located five kilometres away from the city centre, where you can find anything you might need. The nearest ATM and supermarket are located a 15 minute walk away from our accommodation.

Sights & Surroundings
Shopping in Kathmandu is an experience in itself. Thamel, Kathmandu tourist hotspot, is where shoppers can find Nepalese, Tibetan and Indian artifacts, wood carvings, handicraft and an assortments of unique clothing and apparel. There are also several malls where you can find fashionable clothing and grocery stores offering everything from wine to breakfast cereals. There are numerous dining options available throughout the city, including Italian, Indian, Thai, Korean and Chinese in addition to a variety of local cuisine.

Other Accommodation on route

During your Road Trip route you will also have overnight stays in hotels/guest houses. The accommodation is basic 2-6 people a room on a single gender basis. You may also opt for a private room,subject to availability.
