This programme consists of working with students at various schools teaching English. You’ll find during your time as a gap volunteer in Chile that we have strong relationships with secondary and high schools in the area. English is hard for the local students and villagers and this is where your help is needed. This programme is a great way for Chilean children to improve their English.
You will assist the teacher during English classes and follow the school curriculum. You will also be able to play games with them or teach them an English song. The main aim is to speak as much English with the students as possible.
Our teaching programme serves a dual purpose: helping children in Chile to speak more English and secondly, give you an insight into the Chilean education system as well as the opportunity to become good friends with students and teachers.
After breakfast you’ll teach in a school. You’ll stop for lunch then return to the classroom. At the end of the day you’ll prepare activities for the following day. Dinner is back at the Centre and the evening is free time for exploring and socialising.
