The most effective way to change the future is through the education of the children! Located in beautiful Kandy, this project gives you the opportunity to work with children between the ages of 3 and 5, at a variety of Kindergartens, who are enthusiastic and eager to learn. Often providing free education to the children, the Kindergartens aim to improve the children’s future opportunities by developing their level of English. They are well organised and supervised by higher authorities. Participants will take an active role in the preparation and delivery of exciting and meaningful learning opportunities. Primarily, your duty will be to teach the children English but you could also be required to teach other subjects such as music, drama and foreign languages. As part of your role, you will be assisting the teaching staff at the school and occasionally creating teaching plans for the activities you’ll be delivering. Any methods you use to encourage the children to learn should be interactive and could include games, puzzles, songs, rhymes or any other media to help them to develop basic pronunciation and knowledge of key vocabulary and phrases.
Monday to Friday
Your daily activities will be varied, responsive to the needs of the children and the Kindergartens, and as exciting as you can make them. Each day will include breakfast, lunch and dinner and time to carry out lesson preparations. The tasks you will be carrying out will primarily revolve around teaching English. You’ll be assisting the local staff with any day-to-day duties and teaching other subjects including drama, music and foreign languages.
